The UIC Pavilion provides employment and training for over two hundred UIC students each year. As Pavilion employees, students not only earn much needed funds to pursue their education, but they also learn the skills and sense of responsibility required to be successfully employed after graduation.
Working at the Pavilion can be exciting and varied. Students might find themselves working at events like basketball games, concerts, and business meetings—all in the same week! In addition, Pavilion employees will have an opportunity to see how an event is organized “step-by-step” while learning important work skills.
Front of House + Back of House
We provide student crew work opportunities which include both the “front of house” and “back of house.” “Front of house” work can include interacting with the public during events, reception work in the Pavilion office, ticket sales in the box office, and maintenance during and after events to ensure that the arena is clean and ready for the next event. “Back of house” or production work goes on behind the scenes and includes setting up stages and chairs, sound system work, and cleaning during and after an event. These are the basics of putting an event together.
